DinnerDario’s la Piazza Ristorante
[rating:3] :
On a recommendation from one of my friends, we decided to hit Dario’s for dinner. It’s located in the Italian Cultural center and serves fine Italian cuisine in a old school atmosphere with an intimate ambience. Tre and I showed up a little early, which was good, since we didn’t realize reservations were needed. But the owners were nice enough to seat us at the only table available. The restaurant was huge: open, airy with candle-lit tables surrounded by glass windows. This place definitely felt warm and authentic.
As we looked over the menus, the waitress brought us some fresh bread with an olive spread. The spread was really good. I’m not sure what was in it, but it was delicious. Tre ordered Spaghetti alle Vongole which was red clam sauce. I ordered Tortellini Cardinale with veal stuffed pasta in cream and tomato sauce. Both dishes were good. We liked the pasta as it was cooked perfectly al dente and the pasta was made fresh. My sauce and fillings were good, but could have used a touch more seasoning. Tre’s sauce, however, left a small pool of diluted tomato sauce at the bottom of his bowl.
Even though we enjoyed our experience and our food, it didn’t have that home cooked style like other Italian places we’ve been to. The service was decent: attentive, but then again, there weren’t many people in the restaurant. Overall, the two pasta dishes and two glasses of wine came to just under $50, which we found a bit pricey for a meal that was just above average.
